Chinese Calligraphy Course- In person

This course is for students to build upon their basic knowledge of Chinese calligraphy. The course will cover basic strokes, stroke orders and character arrangement. If you have taken our previous calligraphy courses, this one will have new characters so you should still be able to join. 

Students will be provided with their own brush, ink and calligraphy paper for the course.

Course time: Tuesdays 5:30-7:00pm

Please note a minimum of 3 students is required to run this course.

We also offer a Calligraphy bundle for £10 alongside this course.

Included in the bundle: 

• 2 Calligraphy brushes
• 1 water mat 
• 1 ceremic ink dish
• Xuan paper and felt mat

This bundle will be £10 in total and we will provide it to you at your first class. The bundle doesn't include ink.

Course Description

This course is suitable for beginners to gain a basic knowledge of Chinese calligraphy. The course will cover basic strokes, stroke orders and character arrangement. 

Students will be provided with their own brush, ink and calligraphy paper for the course.

On successful completion of the course, students will have an foundational understanding of how to properly hold a Chinese calligraphy brush and sitting positions, basic strokes and their order and how to arrange characters.

Our refund policy is:

• Applications for a refund must be made in writing or via email to ci@brookes.ac.uk.
  Full refunds will only be made if they are received by the Confucius Institute 5 working days before the start date of the course.
• The first class of each course can be attended for free so students are able to ascertain their learning level but only if this has been discussed with the Administrative Officer. Payment must then be made before the second class. Culture courses are not eligible for trial sessions.
• Once payment has been made and the course has started, refunds will only be given for extenuating medical or personal circumstances. Requested refunds of this nature must be accompanied by evidence and will be approved on a case by case basis. Courses attended will be deducted plus a £20 administrative fee from the amount refunded.
• We encourage each student to consider the time commitment needed for each course and ensure they feel able to attend the majority of lessons.
